Display item reference numbers in item journals
Overview:
- Learn how to display item references in item journals.
Note: Use item references by adding the Item Reference No. field from the Personalise function in Item Journals. Your business can associate a customer item number, a vendor item number, a barcode or a general reference with your business own internal item number.
Why do you set up item references for item journals?
An item reference number that a vendor or customer uses helps to match internal inventory item numbers with the ones that customers and vendors use. This improves communication and transaction processing, as it helps to convert the vendor's or customer's item codes to the equivalent internal codes, minimizing confusion and mistakes in order fulfillment and inventory management.
How to set up item references for item journals?
- Go to your Item Journals page. Select the journal batch where you want to set up the item references.
- In the journal lines, set up the item journal, by updating the item number, location, and other relevant information for the items you are tracking.
- Locate the Item Reference No., field. Type in the unique reference code or description for the item. This can be a part number, batch number, or any other identifier.
Note: The Item Reference No., field may be a hidden field in the item journal lines. Personalise your page to show the field. - Continue updating your item journal lines. Validate and post the journal to update the inventory records.
