Set up resources

Overview:

  • Set up resources in Wiise for payroll employees

Why set up resources?

Setting up resources in Wiise helps track costs, usage, and availability for projects. It ensures efficient management and accurate billing.

Note: An employee's time is billed to a client as a resource. A resource can be an employee, a team, a consultant, or equipment used in a project. It includes details about cost and price, linking the resource from the job to the employee's payroll timesheet.

How to set up resources?

  1. Select Wiise Payroll from your Wiise landing page.
  2. Select Employees from the action ribbon.

Note: The employees you’ve added to Wiise Payroll appear in the Wiise employee list.  1
  3. Select Auto Map in the ribbon to update the fields with employee information.
  4. A message displays the number of resources to be mapped. This gives you a chance to go back to Wiise Payroll to update your employee details.
    1. Select Yes to create new resource card for the template who use timesheets.
      2
Note: Auto Map creates resource cards for all new employees that you’ve added to Wiise from Wiise Payroll.

Note: To avoid mapping an employee to a resource automatically, you can select Skip Automap in the Resource Card for your existing resources. You can still map a resource to an employee manually later.
  5. The Employee list fields are updated in Wiise.
    3
    1. An Employee No. is assigned.
    2. Wiise Last Name and Wiise First Name is populated.
    3. A Resource ID is created.
    4. The Approver ID is updated for the employee.
  6. Search for Resources on the top right-hand corner of the page. Select the related link. The Resources list displays.
    4

    5
  9. Select Time Sheet Owner User ID field drop-down menu in the General section.
    1. If the user does not exist, select New to create the user in User Setup.
      1. Fill in the User ID.
      2. Update the user’s E-Mail.
        6
Note: The user will require a Wiise team member license assigned to be able to use Wiise timesheets.

Note: The timesheet owner could be the employee represented by this resource card. Or it could be someone who enters timesheets for lots of resources. Wiise lets you add the same person in the Time Sheet Owner User ID field for multiple resource cards.
  10. You’ve updated the timesheet owner to the resource card. The user will be able to enter hours they’ve worked, or their resource has worked on a timesheet and submit it for approval.
