  • Find out how to set up dimensions which are reporting categories for employees

Why set up reporting categories for employees?

An employee's dimensions can help track payroll costs by location or department. When you import a payroll journal, these costs are linked to their respective dimension values, allowing you to report on them later. For instance, dimensions can show the total labor cost for different areas of your business.

Note: Before importing each pay run, assign dimension values to any new employees you've added. This ensures that the dimension values are included in the ledger entries when you import the pay run into the payroll journal.
