Set up item categories

- Learn how to set up item categories
Why set up item categories?
One way to keep track of your items and to help you sort and search for items is to arrange your items in item categories.
How to set up item categories?
- Search for Item Categories on the top right-hand corner of the page. Select the relevant link. The item categories page displays.
- Select +New to create a new item category or select Edit to update an existing item category.
- Select +New. A new Item Category Card display.
- Fill in the following fields:
- Code: This identifies the item category
- Description: Give the item category a description
- Parent Category: You can assign a new parent category or place this item category against an existing category such as FURNITURE.
Note: When the parent category is selected, assigned item attributes are copied across. You can update the attributes for the item category. - Fill in the following fields:
- The item category gets added to your list of Item Categories.
- When you create a new item, in the Item Card, you can update the Item Category Code. Select the Item Category Code drop-down menu to make your selection.
- You’ve set up item categories in Wiise.
