Why use a planning worksheet?
A planning worksheet centralises demand and supply data, enabling comprehensive plans for production, assembly, transfers, and purchases. It prevents stockouts and overstocking by suggesting orders based on created demand.
How to use a planning worksheet?
- Search for Planning Worksheets on the top right-hand corner of the page and select the related link. The page displays.
Note: Before running the planning worksheet, ensure that your item cards have the necessary planning parameters configured, such as reorder points, reorder quantities, lead times, and safety stocks.
Note: The planning worksheet determines what to order based on factors like forecasted demand, current inventory levels, and existing supply orders. - Select Prepare. Then, select Calculate Regenerative Plan.
- The Calculate Plan worksheet displays.
- Update the Options and Filter page:
- Master Production Schedule (MPS) / Material Requirements Planning (MRP): Enable or disable the toggle buttons to run MPS or MRP individually or together.
- Starting Date: Set this to your current date to ensure Wiise considers your projected available numbers, current inventory, and today's date.
- Ending Date: Set this to your longest lead time.
- Use Forecast: Enable this if you want to use a forecast.
- Filter to the specific items or locations or calculate the plan to include all items.
- Select OK to run the planning worksheet.
Note: Wiise generates planned orders or suggestions based on its analysis of your needs. - Warnings: Wiise will update warnings such as Emergency, Attention, or leave the field blank if there are no issues with the planning lines.
- Emergency or Attention: Select the warning hyperlink to view untracked planning events and understand why planning line is flagged as an emergency. These warnings are often due to date discrepancies, negative inventory, or safety stock issues.
- Action Messages:
- New: Indicates the need to create a new purchase order, production order, or assembly order.
- Change Qty: Suggests adjusting the quantity of an existing order.
- Reschedule: Indicates that an existing order's date may be incorrect. You can reschedule, change the quantity, or cancel the planning item.
- Original Quantity: Reflects the original quantity in the planning line if a quantity change was made. The same applies to original due dates.
Note: Wiise differentiates between MPS and MRP orders and provides additional information in the last few columns, specifying whether it’s a purchase order or a production order and if it is a planned order.
Note: If suggestions involve changing the quantity, Wiise will provide a request order number. This allows you to identify which purchase order, assembly order, or production order will be updated. You can filter the list to focus on specific items and validate the suggestions. - Select the planning worksheet line. Then, select Item Availability by Event action menu. This allows you to examine supply and demand details and view exact orders.
- The Item Availability by Event for the selected item displays the different documents driving the quantity.
Note: If the Location Filter shows a negative quantity in the Scheduled Receipt field, it indicates a negative inventory or safety stock issue. Ensure you maintain safety stocks and accurate forecasts to resolve negative inventory states. This might involve transferring inventory between locations, processing purchase receipts, or completing production orders. While negatives can occur in manufacturing, they should be promptly addressed to return to a positive inventory state.
Note: After reviewing the planning worksheet lines, you can make necessary changes. For example, if Wiise suggests replenishing a quantity of 10 but you wish to adjust it, you can increase the quantity or set a new due date. You can also deviate by selecting a different vendor for a purchase order. - After addressing all planning worksheet lines and resolving any warning messages, select your planning worksheet lines to action and select the Accept Action Message checkbox.
- Then, select Home. Select Carry Out Action Message.
Note: The Carry Out Action Message prompts Wiise to create purchase, production, or assembly orders, adjust quantities, reschedule, or cancel planning worksheet orders based on your inputs - This action allows Wiise to create the necessary purchase orders, assembly orders, or production orders based on the selected planning worksheet lines where the Accept Action Message is checked.
- You can then send purchase orders to the relevant suppliers.
- The process is completed. You’ve used a planning worksheet to optimise purchase decisions for your business.
Note: By regularly using the Planning Worksheet, you can ensure that your inventory levels remain optimal, reduce carrying costs, and improve your overall responsiveness to market demand.
