Set up units of measure
Overview:
- Learn how to set up units of measure.
Why set up units of measure?
Units of measure enable you to track inventory quantities based on the smallest unit available for purchase or sale. For instance, if you have a carton containing 6 jars, you can use both carton and jar as units of measure.
How to set up units of measure?
When registering new items in the Item Card, specify the base unit of measure.
- Search for Units of Measure on the top right-hand corner of the page. Select the relevant link.
- The Units of Measure list displays. Select New to add a new unit of measure or select Edit List to edit the existing list.
Note: You can add translations if your business sells items with the units of measure to customers in other countries. Select the unit of measure code row that you want to edit. Select Related, then select Unit. Select Translations. Update the Language Code and add a Description. - You’ve now set up units of measure for your items.
- Go back to your items card and assign the set-up units of measure when you set up an item.
