Why set up fixed asset class and subclass codes?
Setting up fixed asset class and subclass codes helps categorise assets for better organisation, reporting, and tracking. It allows you to manage your assets by grouping them into categories.
How to set up fixed asset class and subclass codes?
Here are the steps to set up fixed asset classes.
- Search for FA Classes on the top right-hand corner of the page. Select the related link and the administration page displays.
- Select +New to add a new class code
- Fill in the following fields:
- Code: Enter a unique identifier for the class.
- Name: Provide a short description of the class code.
- You’ve created the fixed asset class code. Select the back arrow to close the page.
- You can now assign the set-up fixed asset class code to your fixed asset card.
Note: You'll need to set up the FA Class Code and FA Posting Groups before configuring FA Subclasses. - Here are the steps to set up your fixed asset subclass codes:
- Search for FA Subclasses on the top right-hand corner of the page. Select the related link and the administration page displays.
- Select +New to set up a new fixed asset subclass code.
- Fill in the following fields:
- Code: Enter a unique identifier for the class.
- Name: Provide a short description of the class code.
- FA Class Code: Identify the class that the subclass belongs to.
- Default FA Posting Group: Defines the posting group used for fixed assets within this subclass.
- Search for FA Subclasses on the top right-hand corner of the page. Select the related link and the administration page displays.
- You’ve set up the FA Subclasses code. Select the back arrow to close the page.
- You can now assign the set-up fixed asset subclasses class code to your fixed asset card.
