Overview:
- Learn to process sales orders in parts using warehouse shipments.
Note: This is useful when items are not fully available, or when customers request delivery in multiple shipments.
Why Process Partial and Multiple Shipments?
Processing partial and multiple shipments allows you to ship and invoice available items immediately while efficiently managing backorders. This improves customer satisfaction by ensuring in-stock items are delivered without waiting for the full order to be fulfilled.
Note: The sales order stays open until all items are shipped and invoiced. You can track remaining quantities using the Quantity Shipped and Quantity Outstanding fields on each line.
Note: If you've set up a new sales order, you’ll need to create a warehouse shipment and register a partial pick to begin the process. After registering the partial pick, follow the steps below to complete the pick and process partial or multiple shipments.
Note: If your location setup has Require Pick or Directed Put-away and Pick enabled, you must create a Warehouse Pick for each partial or multiple shipment from the existing warehouse shipment. After completing the pick, post the Warehouse Shipment to finalise the shipment process. Repeat these steps for any remaining shipments.
