Why schedule Business Central updates in the admin center?
As an IT Administrator, you can easily schedule updates for Business Central within your admin centre, giving you control over your system’s stability, security, and access to the latest features.
Note: Microsoft releases updates for Business Central in two categories:
- Major Updates: Released twice a year (April and October), introducing new features, enhancements, and performance improvements.
- Minor Updates: Released monthly, focusing on bug fixes, security patches, and small feature refinements.
Note: Microsoft automatically schedules major updates for your environment to keep your system up to date. However, you have the flexibility to reschedule these updates within a specific window to suit your needs. You'll also receive notifications about minor updates, allowing you to schedule them at a convenient time.
To keep your sandbox environments current, go to the Update Settings section and ensure the Apps Update Cadence is set to With minor and major updates.
Note: To minimise disruptions to your production environment, start by scheduling the upgrade for your sandbox environment. This allows you to identify any potential issues in advance. Work with your service partner to ensure your PTEs and integrations are up to date.
